On June 18, the European Suppliers' Day organized by SGD Pharma brought together a hundred stakeholders from the glass industry and sustainable development.
The European SGD Pharma Suppliers Day, which was held on 18 June near Paris, brought together a hundred major players from the glass industry and sustainable development. Among the participants, major suppliers (glass technologies, energy, raw materials, logistics, packaging...), non-governmental organizations (United Nations, Reforest'Action) and key players in SGD Pharma’s global CSR strategy.
The event aimed to promote sustainable practices and strengthen existing partnerships in order to contribute to a more virtuous future.
Olivier Rousseau, CEO of SGD Pharma, introduced the event by highlighting SGD Pharma’s strong commitment to achieving carbon neutrality and the importance of collaborative efforts to achieve common environmental objectives.
Laurent Millet, the Group’s Quality and CSR Director, presented the company’s roadmap and CSR commitments.
William Ledger, Chief Operating Officer, outlined the company’s decarbonization commitments.
Representatives of the French network of the UN Global Compact shared the vision and priorities of the United Nations with a focus on climate change, human rights, labor standards and anti-corruption. They also highlighted the benefits of becoming a member of the initiative and explained to what extent the UN Global Compact platform and its French network can help guide companies regardless of their size, their
complexity and their location.
Victor Padoy, advisor on climate solutions and biodiversity at the association Reforest'Action, explained how the association identifies, designs and develops projects for regenerative forest, agricultural, coastal and urban ecosystems around the world. This wide range of tree planting projects helps contribute to the carbon neutrality of partner companies.
Bihag Shah, Chief Procurement Officer at SGD Pharma, concluded the day: "It is clear that reducing the environmental impact of industrial activities is not just a trend, but a
necessity and is one of the pillars of the selection of suppliers for SGD Pharma". It also encouraged suppliers to implement sustainable practices in their operations and welcomed the efforts already made by some partners.
At the end of the ceremony, 18 suppliers received a certificate, attesting and rewarding their commitment to CSR.
The suppliers' day was an important step in building the path to a more sustainable future. By bringing together the main stakeholders, SGD Pharma has demonstrated its willingness to promote these practices throughout the glass industry.
