SGD Pharma receives the gold medal in the EcoVadis ranking in the field of sustainable development
Impressive scores in many areas place the company in the top 5% of glass and glass product manufacturers.
Paris, March 16, 2023 - SGD Pharma, the global leader in pharmaceutical glass packaging, has been awarded the "gold" medal for performance among the top 5% companies, following a study conducted by EcoVadis (the world’s largest provider of sustainability performance assessments for companies).
Business performance is evaluated on four key areas: environment, ethics, human rights and sustainable sourcing. Ecovadis then performs an individual analysis and compares the collected data to similar organizations.
The results obtained by SGD Pharma are as follows:
- An overall performance of 98% for glass and glass product manufacturers
- Particularly high scores on sustainable sourcing, labour and human rights - respectively in the top 1% and 2% of the sector
- An ongoing commitment to sustainable development and exemplary results.

SGD Pharma implements sustainable development initiatives in three areas: human, environmental and corporate values. Environmental objectives are now an integral part of the company’s industrial strategy, which has set itself the ambitious goal of reducing its carbon footprint by 40% by 2040 (compared to 2020 figures).
This objective is achieved through the improvement of energy performance, the use of green electricity, the transition to decarbonized raw materials and the optimization of heat renewal.
To evaluate companies, EcoVadis relies on seven management indicators that then allow companies to be evaluated on 21 sustainability criteria such as: health, employee safety, social and human rights, ethics. Subsequently, the results allow the creation of a detailed report aimed at comparing and defining areas for improvement. This tool is valuable for companies seeking independent evaluation, partners or potential suppliers. Indeed, organizations that are pioneers in sustainable development are increasingly eager to work with partners who share similar values.
