Tea Time for Alpha Syrup Bottles!

Kombucha header

Did you know that SGD Pharma’s Alpha bottles in Type III amber and clear glass are also suitable for many other applications, including tea?

There are some trendy artisanal breweries, based on the French Basque coast, that produce fermented infusions and Kombucha. These companies have recently selected 300ml syrup bottles in amber glass from SGD Pharma to enhance their products with reliable, attractive packaging for their nourishing Kombucha teas.

What is Kombucha?kombucha round

Originating in China but now popular globally, Kombucha is a fermented tea brewed with sugar, water, bacteria and yeast. These ingredients ferment for about 15 days in a warm environment, resulting in a delicious, low-sugar, nutrient-dense beverage rich in beneficial acids and antioxidants.

Numerous health benefits have been claimed for this product (with little scientific evidence), but the market size is large, approximately US$1.7 billion in 2019.

The suitability of Alpha for kombucha was identified by the customers, who approached us directly based on our experience. The projects both see French customers buying from our French HQ for delivery of glass manufactured in France for local markets. This example of an innovative application for our glass also points to the potential for similar projects on a larger scale, with large manufacturers of kombucha and other similar products. We’d recommend a good look at kombucha suppliers in your region to share our capabilities, it would be great to grow this acorn into a large oak tree.
