Maximize productivity with better economics and optimum quality
SGD Pharma’s innovative Velocity® Vials have a friction- reducing and stabilizing outer coating which helps manufacturers to optimize their fill & finish operations. One of the primary challenges for pharmaceutical filling lines is the prevention of damage and disruption to the flow of vials, which can result in expensive recalls and increased manufacturing costs. These disruptions are caused by tip-overs, jams and glass breakages, all due to high-frictional resistance from glass-to-glass and glass-to-metal contact.
To address these production obstacles, SGD Pharma launched a new range of Type I tubular vials for injectable drugs with an external low coefficient of friction (COF) coating developed by Corning. Velocity Vials can make fill & finish process up to 50% more efficient by reducing the frictional resistance of the glass. Importantly, Velocity Vials improve patient safety by reducing the risk of vial cracks and glass particle contamination while also speeding up the global delivery of potentially life-saving treatments.
Velocity Vials help pharmaceutical manufacturers to:
- Improve fill & finish efficiency by 20-50%
- Reduce the likelihood of damage that leads to cracks, breaks and cosmetic rejects
- Achieve up to 96% reduction of glass particulate generation during fill & finish operations
- Minimize product loss due to particle contamination, cosmetic defects, and vial cracks and breaks
- Help make integration process as simple as possible.
What's expected ?
Improves fill & finish efficiency by 20-50%.
Protects vials from damage to prevent cracks, breaks and cosmetics rejects.
Up to 96% reduction in glass particulates.
Resists damage from fill & finish to retain up to 90% of strength and exhibit a 3x reduction in crack generation.
Reduction of total cost of ownership (TCO) as machine downtime is at a minimum.
Reduced product loss due to particle contamination.
Help lower manufacturing costs if implemented appropriately.
Drop-in solution to existing fill & finish lines, which allows for seamless integration and an immediative reduction in pharmaceutical production costs.
Corning and SGD Pharma
The joint venture to open a new state-of-the-art glass tubing facility at SGD Pharma’s existing manufacturing plant in Vemula, India was announced in June 2023. SGD Pharma will manufacture the new range of Velocity Vials and expand access to Corning’s innovative coating technology both to the region and globally.
SGD Pharma’s Vemula production site currently specializes in Type I glass primary packaging for pharmaceutical and biotech applications with a best-in-class manufacturing footprint that has helped it achieve first position in India for molded glass and fifth worldwide for tubular vials.
LireApplication
Productivity increase
Get the most out of your existing lines by increasing both efficiency and yield with Velocity Vials.
Cost reduction
Velocity Vials can reduce Total Cost of Ownership by improving fill & finish productivity, lowering API loss, and reducing downtime.
Quality improvement
Velocity Vials have a patented coating from Corning which reduces the vial’s coefficient of friction, helping to reduce cosmetic defects, cracks, and glass particles, lowering the risk of drug recall due to glass particle contamination.
Product Specifications
Velocity Vials are available in a wide range of sizes, see the table below. SGD Pharma’s high-quality tubular vials are manufactured to rigid specifications to ensure consistent quality standards. Other vial formats are available on request and various configurations are available for bulk packaging.
