At SGD Pharma, the 3R principles, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle are at the heart of our innovation process. Three recent product developments illustrate this approach:
⚖️ Reduce: Our innovative NOVA lightweight glass bottles have an optimized design that maintains material strength while using less material, reducing CO2 emissions by 20% compared to standard bottles.
🔁 Reuse: Our ECLIPSE patented design of refillable glass packaging for cosmetics provides an easy-to-use solution for brands to actively engage their customers in the circular economy and optimize their refill experience.
♻️ Recycle: Our Zhanjiang plant is the first glass manufacturer in China certified to produce with ISO 14021-compliant post-consumer recycled (PCR) glass with 20%-30% PCR content. This initiative decreases the use of virgin raw materials and lowers carbon emissions by reducing energy consumption during the melting process. PCR bottles maintain the same aesthetic quality, functionality and safety as conventional bottles, while offering a more sustainable packaging option for our clients.
Working closely with customers to integrate circular economy principles into our product designs, we’re clearly demonstrating that sustainable glass packaging isn’t a compromise, it’s leadership.
